Sarah and Colin had a wedding in the woods of northern Maryland at a summer camp.
Sarah's immediate family suffers from a degenerative muscular disease, Myotonic Dystrophy, and the incredible importance of family at this wedding was apparent in everything. Rather than family and friends showing up to a church and then going to a party for a few hours at a reception, Sarah and Colin decided to change the typical schedule. They turned their wedding into a weekend-long event full of activity, fun, adventure, and celebration for everyone involved.
We arrived Friday night for the rehearsal dinner in a wooden amphitheater around a bonfire. We retired to our cabins to sleep before the big day. In the early morning Colin and the other men in the family drove to a field of wild flowers. They hand-picked all of the flowers to be used for the bouquets and center pieces while the girls had their hair and makeup done back at camp.
This was a day that was full of tears, full of laughter, and full of celebration.
We were not able to stay on for Sunday, but we didn't have to be there to know that the pool party that took place was also amazing. We will not be able to document Sarah and Colin for the rest of their marriage, but we won't have to be there to know that the two of them will inspire so many people with their sincerity, their enthusiasm, their intensity, and their love.
This is just a glimpse into the amazing weekend that took place...
